The Power of Story

The Genealogy Center at Allen County Public Library is the largest free and public genealogy center in the country. The center serves more than 100,000 patrons each year, with well over one-million physical resources on premise, and millions more available digitally—at no cost.

After the pandemic caused use of in-person services to dwindle, OLG was honored to partner with the Genealogy Center to create a video to increase awareness of the center’s truly one-of-a-kind services, resources, and expertise, and grow attendance and usage.

We’re ever grateful for Curt Witcher, John Beatty and the Genealogy Center team’s commitment to enriching genealogical experiences for citizens in our community—and all over the country—as well as for their passion in sharing their expertise, which was instrumental in our research for the production of An Influence for Good.

We owe an additional dollop of gratitude to Roberta Ridley and the African American Genealogical Society of Fort Wayne for the incredible work she/they do, and the generosity of her interview.
