Nonviolence Training, for Generations

How do you address nonviolence in a way that creates generational change? Enter Peacemaker Academy, an initiative of Alive Community Outreach.

Peacemaker Academy is a summer program that trains high school students on the philosophy and peacemaking strategies of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Over three weeks, students learn about the philosophy and methodology of Kingian nonviolence. At the culmination of the program, participants will present their vision for a nonviolence and peacemaking project to be implemented in their school. What’s more, students who complete the program will earn a $750 award.

OLG was honored to support Peacemaker Academy by creating its logo, and an in-kind launch strategy. Peacemaker Academy was announced at the Rotary Club of Fort Wayne meeting on June 7, 2021, and received terrific press coverage across our community’s traditional and digital media. Thank you, Rev. Angelo Mante and Marie Mante of Alive Community Outreach, and Lynne Gilmore and Tom Beaver of Rotary Club of Fort Wayne, for bringing this important programming to our community.
