It’s finally that time of year—we’re all migrating out of hibernation and into the sunshine. As the days get longer, here are some of OLG’er favorite ways to spend the summer months!
Bridget
When the nice weather hits, I love sitting outside and enjoying dinner and a drink with my favorite people. From a tiki cocktail at The Sidecar to tacos at Mercado, there are so many great places to ‘cheers’ and soak up the sun.
Chelsea
Summer (aka sunshine season) means drinks on the patio with good friends, visits to the Saturday morning farmers market, camping and road trips, Chalk Walk and Junk Food Alley at the Three Rivers Festival.
Erin
This summer we’re looking forward to spending our time outside strolling through the local farmers markets and the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. There’s always something new to see or try, and they’re especially fun for our little one to experience.
Jake
Gotta love a good summer bike ride. Hopefully with a stop at a nice patio.
Jasmine
I love spending time in nature—hiking, camping, fishing… basically anything that gets me moving outside. I can’t wait to kayak the rivers and trek through Fox Island, Eagle Marsh and Lindenwood Nature Preserve. Catch me walking my dog on the Rivergreenway almost every day of the week!
Jonathan
If you’re looking for me I’m probably at the golf course, or having a beer, or having a beer at the golf course.
Matt
I like to run, a lot. Either with a soul-filling run club, or solo w/ headphones. In the latter case, recommended podcasts: The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz, Broken Record, South Beach Sessions, On Being with Krista Tippett, and The Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast.
Michelle
I prepare all year in anticipation for the last week in July—The Allen County Fair. I spend time with my family, friends and a full county of fairgoers watching 4-H animal shows, hot air balloons, monster trucks and demolition derbies. Oh, and lots of fair food! It’s the perfect combination of Timeless Fun!
Olivia
I love a summery evening at Promenade Park. Our go-to order of operations is dinner and a drink, then a stroll through the park to the playground. Go on a Friday to enjoy some local music on The Landing too!
Zach
Summer means music festivals and outdoor concerts. I love when I can attend Middle Waves, Lollapalooza, or maybe a show down in Indy. There is something special about music outdoors!
Zoe
It wouldn’t be an Indiana summer without a few trips up to Steuben County to hit up the lakes! I love being on the water and spending time with family and friends. There’s nothing better than floating in Lake Gage with a drink in my hand.
