FW Pizza Punx Fest

Last February I got together with some friends where we talked about putting on a two-day music festival. The idea was to bring a couple of good bands to town and also highlight some other talented local acts. We’d wrap it all together in a theme of pizza. Original live music, cheesy food and people who appreciate both—what’s not to like? We got to work planning FW Pizza Punx Fest.

Fast forward, and we’re getting the word out about our two shows, being held at The Brass Rail on Friday and Saturday, September 5th and 6th. 16 bands, three food vendors and lots of good vibes. The weekend will be headlined by the mighty awesome Zero Boys. To get tickets to that show, snatch’em up at Brown Paper Tickets!

I obviously wanted to play a big part in promoting this event and knew it’d provide some fun opportunities to create some stuff. Developing the logo was a nice exercise in custom typography followed by a lengthy dive into figuring out the best colors that could be used throughout the summer. The first reveal  of creative came from our Facebook page via a quickly shot promotional video back in June. What followed were weekly updates, screen-printed posters, die-cut stickers, advertisements and a Wordpress website.

FWpizzapunxfest.com is used in conjunction with the Facebook page and is a single point to see all the bands involved and listen to a song from each. Thanks go to Tommy for helping me set that one up!

It’s been a while since I’ve got to create a screen-printed poster, so I was happy to have the opportunity to design an impactful piece on some 100# French Poptone. The nice folks at The Half and Half pulled these suckers for me. I’ll have some at the show to purchase if you wanna brighten up a wall to remember the weekend. I also created a smaller, custom illustration for the first 20 people to Saturday’s show.

If you’re looking to hear a good collection of some loud rock n’ roll soon, make sure to stop by one of Fort Wayne’s favorite music venues. And come hungry!
