Reflecting on 2024 OLG-iversaries

POST BY OLG NEWSWIRE

December 27, 2024

In 2024, each OLG’er received a (surprise!) illustration on their anniversary, created by their colleague, Jonathan Barker. Each custom design was inspired by their personal interests + a style that reflects their personality + a “lucky guitar” that we think embodies those things! The sum of those pieces? Artwork as one-of-a-kind as they are.

Jake

January 2

Jake’s love for music that’s fast and loud—and the bold art on stickers and posters that reflect that spirit—drive this design. The perfect guitar for Jake is Billie Joe Armstrong’s (Green Day) Fernandes Stratocaster® “Blue,” which was the first guitar Billie ever owned. Armstrong recorded all of the tracks on the smash album ‘Dookie’ with “Blue.”

Michelle

January 12

The floral patterns on Michelle’s illustration are especially inspired by Slavic and Scandinavian European folk art, with symmetrical designs that elicit feelings of peace and tranquility. The guitar that inspired her piece is the Gibson Acoustic Dove Original.® The leaves as hearts—after all, she is Michelle Love—represent her empathic, creative and kind nature, while the western leatherwork and cowboy boots reflect her grounded interests and the community she’s proud to call home: Churubusco.

Jasmine

January 25

The florals and plants on Jasmine’s illustration are inspired by her passion for gardening and caring for botanicals. The overarching feel of the illustration reflects a traditional tattoo style, reflective of Jasmine’s personal expression, and the guitar is based on the handpainted Fender Offset Duo Sonic® played by Kennedy Brock of The Maine—one of Jasmine’s favorite bands.

Zoe

March 3

Zoe’s enthusiasm for travel and tropical destinations, combined with her love for playing golf, inspired this vintage travel poster/postcard-style illustration. Her perfect guitar is the Gibson Hummingbird®—used by Taylor Swift during the Folklore era.

Bridget

March 15

With an illustration style inspired by 60’s tiki and midcentury shapes and patterns, Bridget’s passion for all things Disney shines, and is matched perfectly by the Kamaka Pineapple Deluxe 1960 Koa Ukelele!® Can you find the hidden Mickey?

Jonathan

April 2

An avid golfer, JB’s illustration is inspired by the ultimate pursuit of the ‘hole in one.’ Because of his love of The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie, his perfect guitar is the signature Fender Ben Gibbard Mustang.® Jonathan’s illustration was made by Jake Sauer.

Angie

June 20

Angie’s illustration is inspired by still life art, combined with her interest in a multitude of creative mediums. Because of her love for her cats, Maneki Neko makes an appearance, reflecting her passion for collectibles and knickknacks. Her spirit guitar is the Fender Jim Adkins JA-90 Telecaster Thinline,® used by her favorite band, Jimmy Eat World.

Olivia

September 30

Olivia’s illustration is inspired by retro roadside signs—like the iconic Route 66 sign—and vintage matchbooks, brought to life through a riso-print-meets-Palm-Springs style. Her spirit guitar is the David Bowie Signature 1961 Supro Dual Tone,® because Olivia Fabian and David Bowie are spiritually synonymous.

Erin

October 19

Erin and her daughters’ shared love of Taylor Swift inspired her illustration. With a minimalistic and nostalgic style, the illustration features Taylor’s favorite number on the hand—13—cropped to only show the three. The bracelets depict some of Erin’s favorite things, and her spirit guitar is the pink Gibson J-180 electric/acoustic® (Taylor’s preferred).

Matt

November 24

Matt founded One Lucky Guitar on November 24, 2000—the day after Thanksgiving. His illustration is influenced by Cody Hudson’s gig poster artwork of some of Matt’s favorite bands, including Hiss Golden Messenger. Matt’s signature guitar is, of course, *the* lucky guitar—a 1964 Gibson B-25® acoustic guitar.
