A few months back I was invited to attend a “Friends for Lunch” at Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, which the organization hosts the fourth Friday of every month at 11:30 a.m. At the time I was not familiar with the organization, and in all honesty I had them confused with ACS (don’t tell Amber Recker that!). I attended the tour and was blown away—not only by the facility but by the countless services they extend in our local community as well as surrounding communities.
Coming from a family with multiple breast cancer survivors—I was shocked that I’d not heard of Cancer Services. Following the tour I emailed Amber (who led the tour) and let her know how impressed I was both by the facility and by her personalized tour, it was really impactful and opened my eyes to a resource that is invaluable to friends and family. That contact lead to a lunch at J K O’Donnell’s and now I’m proud to say that I’m part of the Friends Committee for the organization. If your’e not familiar with Cancer Services, I encourage you to take a look at their website to learn more and more importantly—schedule a tour!
