Sometimes when we think back on our relationship with Matilda Jane Clothing Co., we feel like we got to see The Rollin' Stones at the Marquee Club in 1962. Because now, quite frankly, the company is selling out stadiums worldwide. The difference is, Matilda Jane's still got it!
Back in 2004, when we first met MJCC owner and designer Denise DeMarchis, this little clothing line was something she did in her spare time, in a spare room, and for a few dozen customers. But you could tell that something very special was going on. We created Denise's identity suite, including business cards and hangtags-work that took on a life of its own, eventually being featured in the prestigious design annuals from Print and HOW magazines, and in three coffee-table book collections of business identities from around the world (and effectively cementing OLG's reputation along the way). Since then, Matilda Jane has exploded-with nearly 100 "trunk keepers" across the country, 14 local employees and a new 6,000 square foot design facility and warehouse (right around the corner from us in "Bricktown"). We've put together the identities for three more product lines for MJCC, as well as four brochures, event collateral, promo pieces and even t-shirt design. For the 2009 catalog, Nate Utesch introduced original illustration to the mix, and the layout took MJCC to an even higher level-and the illustrations will even serve as a fabric pattern for future clothing.
Anyway, you can experience it all for yourself this weekend, when Matilda Jane Clothing Co. hosts its first-ever open house and art fair, at 435 East Brackenridge in downtown Fort Wayne. Doors are open on Saturday, June 27th, from 10AM-5PM, and Sunday, June 28th, from 10AM-2PM. People are flying in from around the country to be a part of this sale-get it now, or get it on eBay!
