Star Crossed: A Fundraising Event

One night only—this Friday, September 13th—visit the Embassy Theatre for an incredible interpretation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The Fort Wayne Dance Collective (FWDC) have choreographed dances throughout the entire theatre and the attached Indiana Hotel. You’ll be given a mask and encouraged to explore each scene—watching the night unfold in front of you one performance after another. Interact with the performers, dance with the dancers, get involved in the story in a way it’s never been told.

What makes it even more exciting (for me) is that my band, Metavari, was asked to provide original music to one of the last scenes in the performance: Romeo’s suicide. “Goosebumps” aren’t even the half of it—seeing Romeo dance to music that my friends and I composed together is a pretty remarkable experience. Here’s a cell phone snap from the perspective of the band during rehearsal.

Tickets are $35 advance or $45 at the door. Available at all Ticketmaster locations or online here. Star Crossed is FWDC’s first annual fundraising event. Proceeds from the event will create scholarships for students who wouldn’t otherwise be able to further their dance education. From the FWDC website: “Students who may never be able to experience the power of the art of dance and its trans-formative effect on their lives.”
